Power tools are like the badges of courage in the world of home improvement and the more you have, the more you can grunt to your heart’s content, much like Tim “the toolman” Taylor from that old sitcom Home Improvement. Whatever the project is around your home, there are probably a number of power tools that can take care of it.
It is important to note that while some power tools could be used for a number of projects, typically they should be used for their intended purpose. Therefore, if you have to cut something, you will want to use one of the many saws available like a circular saw, band saw or whatever saw is suited for your purpose. The same principle applies for drills, grinders, sanders, auto screw guns or nail guns, air compressors and more.
Specialty Power Tools
There may be a few projects, like concrete, in which you just don’t have the right power tools. Luckily, there are several types of tools you can look for that deal specifically with concrete like power cutters, hammer drills, rotary hammers, breaker hammers and more.
Woodworking works in much the same way as other specialties – you have special power tools that are unique to the profession. For instance, scroll saws are often used to create tight cuts with designs on the wood while a random orbital sander or a belt sander to make your wood smooth and free of splinters.
Metal workers might find good power tools as well to help with their projects as well. Grinders can smooth down the rough edges as well as metal shard sticking up from metal sheets. Power shears are strong enough to cut through metal when you have to cut it down to size. Nibblers are great power tools with the power to punch holes in metal.
Cordless Power Tools
There are any cordless counterparts of many power tools that can be a great help around the home or even office. The most popular of the cordless variety is the cordless drill because you can not only drill holes, you can also use different attachments to screw in screws or even drill or punch holes in concrete.
Impact wrenches, circulating saws, reciprocating saws, jigsaws, impact drivers and more all are part of the cordless power tools family. Each one has a distinct purpose and all can serve you well in and around your house for a number of home improvement projects. So just remember, where there is a project, there is a power tool for the job. |
