Curtains are usually hung on the inside of a house to block light; people use curtains at night to sleep better or to stop people outside from being able to see inside. A beautiful curtain can improve the decor of your house and control the flow of natural light into your room.
Curtains can be made from many thickness of fabric, each with a different degree of light absorption and heat insulating qualities. Sheer curtain is made from special fabric, such as cotton or polyester. These fabrics are translucent; the light is transmitted through, because the basic level of ultra violet protection whilst retain an acceptable through the curtain. Sheer curtains offer very little in the way of heat insulation.
Drapes and curtains are not useful only for decorating windows. There are other important functions to provide, such as the privacy (a fabric that is sheer is perfect during the day but you need a thick material during the night). The drapes must also control over the light, to keep its temperature cool. Any curtain or drapes must provide this control. The drapes must compliment the decor of your room; this is the most difficult part of the selection process.
Panels are very popular; panels are floor length curtains, made in any pattern, fabric or color. You can use them alone or in sets. Panels are used to cover French doors or sliding doors, but can be put to any use. Usually panels are paired with a top valance or decorative heading; they may be sheer or simple, decorated with many embellishments. You can attach the panels to their support by any method.
True elegance does not end at the living room door; you can make it reigns throughout the home, with delicate, airy tracing curtains. Coordinate shower curtains, towels, bath rugs and other accessories embellish your bathroom. If your shower curtain is really fantastic, but dont end up staying in the shower far too long admitting it!
The curtains style must match your home; if you have a contemporary home and you are searching a fabric for you living room, you must think of one color, no pattern, a harmonious curtain to blend into your decor. You can successfully choose black wrought iron with ball ends. You must choose also white linen fabric, to create a balanced proportion top and bottom, and a simple and elegant look. If the walls are white, the curtain color will continue their color.
You must also consider the windows position; if the windows have a lot of sunlight, the fabric must not fade. If the side of the house is north, the rooms are darker and you need warm, intense colors to give life to your home. If the side of the house is south, you need light colors, to balance the natural light. Your home can be simple but modern, relaxed and cozy. The elegance is based on simplicity and pastel colors matching with the furniture, walls color and rugs. |
