So today whilst playing a nice game of Halo my Xbox was working great, I have had it for a few months with no problems whatsoever. I switched it off and then went to have some food, on my return I went to switch it on and then the dreaded red lights started to flicker. I had read about this problem so many times but thought that it would never happen to me.
To be honest there are hundreds of articles online explaining how in fact you fix this problem. I have read hours upon hours of explanations and potential fixes, but are these really worth the hassle, trouble and time? Well to be honest I do think that most of the guides and manuals will in fact do more harm than good. So I therefore recommend bringing it back to the retailer that you purchased it from.
In my experience this was the best approach, the next day after getting the dreaded red lights I popped into the mall to get a new system. I was informed that because I purchased a used system I could not get an exchange because they have stopped selling used versions. So they said they could take my broken one in but I would have to pay the difference for a new system. So I cleverly purchased the new system that came with a new game and then made the shop buy that off me. So all in all I didn't pay a lot for a new system with upgraded hard drive.
But the whole point of this article is only fiddle around with your Xbox if you are 100% sure of what you are doing and you know that you can fix it. It is all very well trying to follow people's online manuals, but what will the end result be if you try to fix the problem and end up breaking it even more? When you go to return it to the store they will end up turning you away as they can see the system has been tampered with.
What stores effectively do is send them back to Microsoft but they cannot do this if you have tampered with the system as it will probably end up invalidating the systems warranty. So finally although you may think you're quite a handy man, you should resist temptations to tamper and bring it straight back to the store, where your faulty Xbox should be replaced.
