Have you seen a wildfire before? Do you know what it can do? Wildfires can start by anything, anyone, and at anytime, so watch what you are doing and watch how hot and dry it gets outside. Wildfires are terrible because it destroys and damages everything that is in its path and it gets bigger as it goes. It can destroy lands, homes, vehicles, buildings, and lots more. It is a natural destroyer, and it is a killer that feeds to grow. It is a living organism that will grow and grow by spreading and eating. It can burn for miles and miles and travel from town to town, destroying homes, people's properties, and their lives.
If the wind is high, get out as fast as you can because the wind will blow and make it spread very fast and you can't grab any of your stuff. Everything you have could be turned into ashes and you might not have anything left. It will burn up grass, leaves, and trees, and it will light up the trees like a match and the only thing that will be left is the base of the tree all burned up and black like charcoal. You will see nothing but ashes and burned wood everywhere you look. There will be smoke in the sky and smoke still rising from the ground. There will be toxins from the smoke that you can not be near and if you breathe it in, you will have to have a breathing treatment because the smoke and the toxins will get in your lungs and you will have to be sent to the hospital to get checked out and to get you treated.
It can take a few or a few hundred houses at once or in just a few minutes; that is how fast it can be. You need to have insurance on your house because if a fire takes it away, your insurance will be able to get you a new house and it will cover everything that you had in your home, too. It can be hard for fire fighters to put out the fire and sometimes they need help. There have been a lot of times where people would come from other towns just to help them put out the fire, and it can take them days to put it out. The longer the fire burns, the more it spreads, and the more it destroys. |
