Venoms: Pushing the Limits of Oral Piercings

Tongue piercings have been popular now for about 20 years, and are no longer seen as an extreme piercing. All types of people get their tongue pierced, especially teenagers and people in their early 20s. People now look for variations to the traditional tongue piercing in order to do something different from the rest. One of these newer types of oral piercings is a venom piercing.
A venom piercing is a type of oral piercing where there are two holes pierced side by side near the tip of the tongue. It gets the name "venoms" because the location of the piercing resembles the placement of a snake's fangs. It has become the second most popular oral piercing after the more common vertical piercing, and is becoming more and more popular every year. Many people combine their vertical tongue piercing with venoms, meaning they have three barbells in their mouth. However, with proper care and cleaning, this piercing will usually heal quite well.
Like all tongue piercings, there are a few things that people should be aware of if they are considering a venom piercing. First of all, it is usually recommend that you try a vertical tongue piercing first, before getting venoms. That way you are used to having a piece of metal in your mouth, and you are used to being careful about your teeth. Also, not everyone is able to get a venom piercing. Similar to a vertical tongue piercing, the piercer will have to check the shape of your tongue and the location of the major veins to make sure that venoms are possible.
A venom piercing makes a fun alternative or complement to a vertical tongue piercing. It is a great way to try something different from the usual tongue piercing, and for this reason, has started to be more common.
