We have accidents every day and some of them involve having a fire. Perhaps you might have an accident with your car, and some of these can really be bad with the cars starting on fire or someone getting killed. It happens every day all day long. With the higher rate of speed that some states have, these accidents have gotten worse over the years.
None of our states have the same rate of speed set on our nation's roadways. Most of the states went with the rate of 55 miles per hour or 60 and then you have some that went to 70 miles per hour. At one time, I distinctly remember about one or two states setting their limit to 85 miles per hour. While the 70 miles per hour speed limit sounds reasonable, I think most people would agree that 85 is stretching it.
At these rates of speed, if there is ice on the roads, you are just looking for an accident to happen for one reason or another. They will usually happen in such a situation and in cases like that, they are never pretty. If a wild animal should happen to walk out onto the road and you hit it, you will probably end up in the ditch, hitting someone else's car or even more than one car, or be thrown out of yours, all of which will end up with either you severely hurt or dead.
If you should come onto a road like this one, you might just want to turn around and go home because it isn't safe for you or anyone on this road until the ice or snow has time to melt. You may still have to worry about coming home the same way, but only this time the ice will be freezing over the road again, so it would be better to just go home where its warm and call it a day.
If you are on your way to work or school and the weather starts to turn bad, it is better to just go home, or call in to work or school because you could be in a very bad accident where you or your children might be stuck in traffic or even in this wreck and wind up in the hospital or worse. It is just safer to stay at home and off the streets until the time when it might be safer to begin to travel again.
