Some say that you should not travel alone because it is too dangerous and what if bad things happen while some say travelling alone is a life challenging experience and if you do not experience it, your life would never be better. Today I am going to weigh the bad and good things of travelling alone and leave it there for your decisions.
The first pro of travelling alone is that you would enjoy more local things than you would if you go in a group of traveler. You will go where the wind takes you. You will be much freer to plan your things to do, what to eat, where to go that way. Imagine you have 20 people in your group, twenty people with twenty opinions of where to go, what to eat, what to play. If you are lucky, you are in the number of things to accepted, but if not, you have to follow the others and sometimes, it steals your joy from the trip. Everything is planned in advance for you, and even if you do not want to follow it, you will still have to. That is why some may say travelling in a group means you have nothing to plan and nothing for yourself and steals your own freedom.
The second pro of travelling alone is that you will feel much more mature and confident after the trip. This is very true. One of my friends decided to travel alone when she was 20. She traveled to Europe, Asia and Africa for months. After the trip, when I talked to her, I realized a big difference in her. She seemed more open, more confident about everything. It seems the trip really broadens her mind and builds her confidence. I guess that is true because she had to do everything on her own, plan everything within her budget and meet tons of new people, and especially do what she always loves to do.
The third pro of travelling alone is that you can meet more people that way. If you travel with your friends or in a group from your country, you tend to talk to them more. You tend to spend more time talking with them or sometimes end up lying in the hotels and chit chat about your favorite topics for long time, which I thing is a waste. You are travelling to a new place and you should spend more time out, talking to local people other than lying in the hotel doing what you do not have to go a long way here to do.
Travelling alone has some cons though. It is very expensive when you arrange your own trip. Imagine you have to rent your own room, and you have to rent the whole car or taxi if you want to go around and have no one to share with. Cost may be more if you travel for a long time like a couple of weeks. You can save a lot of money by sharing it with another person.
