Tips On How To Make Friends In College

In my experience, it was fairly easier to win friends in college than it was when I was still in high school. While this much is true for me, not all people have the same perspective as I am. But I do agree that college is extremely a different world than high school. The reason is simple; in high school you deal with the same set of people fairly everyday but when college comes although there are schools which has a block subject where you will deal with the same people all the time, you will still feel alone and at times on your own.

You need to adjust more in college because the subjects are a lot harder, you will feel stress that you have never encountered before in your happy-go-lucky high school and you have bigger responsibilities to school and to yourself than before. While it is so true that you got more freedom, you can never do away with the fact that you are now responsible for your own actions and act accordingly. But as I have already said, for me making friends in college is fairly easy than most people think.

Once you enter college you may have some wild delusions that you will find less time to spend for yourself, let alone make friends. But contrary to that thinking, the first year in college is the best time to make friends. Every one is new to each other and has not yet connected to anyone except of course to those people who went in the same high school. But even then, they should still be detached from each other if all they are is school mates. It is fairly easy to connect and make many friends while this much is true. You can just go there and talk and smile to people. If you are typically shy, chances are there are people who are going to notice you. All you need is to smile back if they do so. There is no need to fear. Just go out there and have fun.

During my first year in college, I already made a friend while I was still enrolling for class. She was also taking the same course as I was and apparently we found out we are in the same class. We met during the first day of school and were seatmates from then on. She was just one person that I made a connection to and before I knew it, the connection became a network of friends. I still remember how our partnership grew into a group of eight.

The very important thing you need to remind yourself is that you will harvest a lot of friends when you take time to listen. Remember that entering college feels like being freed from cage for a long time. Many of us feel that high school is a cage where we should be entirely prim and proper. Base on this knowledge, it is easier to communicate because we all kind of feel the same. Just take time to listen and you will win a friend for life.
