2) Next, you would write a press release telling the world that You, Winter Recreation Expert Extraordinaire just released an article chock full of the best things to do outside in the wintertime. You would then submit this press release to multiple press release submission websites.
3) If you have a blog, you can take the same information, rework it a bit, and post it to your blog, along with some bonus activities or a product giveaway to make your blog readers feel special (and also to get names and email addresses to add to your list.)
4) Then, using a program like Camtasia, you could record parts of your article and format it into a short video that you can now use to post on sites like YouTube, MySpace, and Facebook.
These four tactics alone will cause some very favorable buzz about you and your website on the internet and you should be able to note a definite increase in traffic. If you want to take things even further, here's a Bonus Idea: Record a longer discussion of the ideas in your article and record it as an audio file, then post it online as a podcast.
You've now created your own mini radio station, which can help you reach the on-the-go consumer who may be more likely to listen to your article rather than sit down and read it.
