As winter quickly approaches there are mixed emotions on this season. Sure most people love to have a white Christmas. If you're a fan of skiing or snowboarding then this is the season for you. If you live in a warmer climate then the weather of this chilly season may not affect you. If however you live in a true winter climate, the cold, long, and dreary days can get to you after awhile.
We all may daydream a bit about the summer and warmer days. Winter is nice for awhile but can drag you down and you can easily find yourself wishing for warmer days to come quickly. There are great ways to beat the winter blahs. You can take a Caribbean vacation, get some sunlight in your house, or throw yourself into an activity that not only takes your mind off of the season but throws you into a time that you are much happier.
Many people find that a hobby such as model boat building can accomplish this. Boating is traditionally done in warmer weather and it can cause you to think of the carefree days of summer. This is particularly true if you are building a remote controlled model boat that you are just dying to get out on the water.
When you are spending your time working on details of a model boat, you are not only focused on this project but are shutting yourself off from the outside world. The cold and windy days outside aren't at the forefront of your mind, but rather the project at hand is your focus. You have put yourself instantly into a world that is warm where you can sail your boat on the water or simply envision such a day to do so.
Take your mind off of the cold temperatures and rather than letting it get you down, focus instead on the amazing project at hand. If you long for warmer days, it may do you good to focus your negative energy on something like model boat building that can turn that into a positive. You can instantly be transported to a warmer day where boats are sailing and people are carefree. If nothing else, you have taken your attention off of the subject matter that is at the heart of your grumpy feelings. Turning a negative into a positive is just one of the many great things that model boat building can do for people.
