A Flood Of Early Voters Leaves Some Places Unprepared

It does not even have to be asked what is so special about this presidential election when compared to elections in the past. It would seem that the American people are so desperate for a change in our government and leadership, democrats and republicans alike, that they can scarcely wait for Election Day to come around to make sure their vote is cast. The chaos that occurred in the 2000 elections involving for the most part the state of Florida, was evidently enough to make any voter want to avoid a debacle like that again.

It was not necessarily a back log of voters that caused the Florida situation in 2000, but in fact was the confusion that took place when the votes of one county in particular were counted. The hanging chad controversy was a very annoying thing for voters that had stood in line and voted only to wonder later if it was even counted. Evidently there are no voters anywhere that want a repeat of anything like that this time around. They might believe that if they arrive early to cast their ballot they will stand a better chance of making sure that absolutely nothing can go wrong.

It is usually a lot faster to go in and vote early, but since this is such an important election it seems, early voters are descending on voting centers in droves in some states. The turn out is much bigger than ever before in recent memory and there have not been enough voting booths to go around making it necessary for voters to stand in line in some places for up to six hours. This would be enough to discourage even the most zealous of voters. Still they continue to show up with their water bottles in tow and are prepared to wait if necessary.

It just goes to show that the determination of the American people is strong enough to stand up to anything we have to, even extremely long lines when the issues are important enough. Maybe it could be because this lection seems to have been going on forever and some people want to get their vote in early so they can finally feel they are done with it. Now all they have to do is sit back and wait for the results to be tallied. That is if we are capable of having them counted correctly the first time this time.
