Do Skin Care Products Work after Just One Use

Promising Immediate Results

Many skin care products offer the consumer a two way approach to viewing the quality of their product. They will offer an expected result after the first use and then an expected result after continuous use. Do these skin care products that promise noticeable results after just one use really make that much of a difference?

A high quality skin care product is going to be able to predict what to expect when you use their product just one time. This prediction is based on the assumption that you have either not been using anything previously to their product on your skin or that you have but it was either for a different purpose or contained different ingredients. If your skin has been somewhat neglected or your skin hasn’t been undergoing regular treatment, your skin is very likely to react as predicted the first time around. In many cases, skin care products are designed to focus more on that first use result than the continuous use result.

If you use a skin care product and the product meets its first time use promise, aren’t you more likely to assume that the long term promises are just as likely to occur? After all, what’s the first thing that pops into your mind after you realize that it made such a difference after just one use? “Wow! This stuff must really work.” Therefore, even if you aren’t seeking quite the results you were hoping for, you are still bound to purchase that product for quite some times before giving up on the long term promises. After all, your brain already believes the product works.

How to be a Smarter Skin Care Consumer

Okay, so you understand my logic so far and it even makes sense. So how do you go about being a smarter skin care product consumer? First, you have to understand that there are limitations to what a skin care product really can do. If you are now 60 years old and you spent the first 59 years of your life basking in every ray, you do have a certain amount of permanent damage. The sun is out friendly enemy that we love to hate, and he does the most damage to the skin. There simply is not a skin care product on the market that will make you look like you are in your thirties again. However, there are some skin care products out there that can do some truly amazing things with the health and quality of even damaged skin.

When you are seeking out a skin care product, read some articles, a few reviews, and get to know the product a little bit more than just reading the label and the packaging. Understand your goals and then try to ascertain which ingredients will help you reach them. There are plenty of skin care products that can help you with fine lines, age spots, sun damage, and pigmentation problems, but you might have a difficult time finding one that doesn’t dry your skin or leave your skin too oily all in one convenient package. Your skin type and texture and the amount of damage plays a role in this process.

When you initially use a skin care product and experience first time results, it can really be an awesome feeling. Your skin probably hasn’t felt so smooth and looked so fresh in awhile. A really good skin care product will leave results behind for more than a few hours. In fact, if the fabulous results are still visible the following morning, the skin care product you are using is most likely a very high quality product that will deliver at least most, if not all, of what it promises long term.

Long Term Results from a Skin Care Product

Achieving long term results form a skin care product can happen. Usually, we are either too critical of our own appearance or we are too familiar with our own faces to really gauge the results for ourselves. While not everyone will notice your fabulous new skin or the great results you’re getting, chances are pretty good that people who see you occasionally will notice a difference in your appearance. Even if they can’t pinpoint it, you are bound to get a few compliments on your appearance when your skin care product is working well.

No, these are not scientific methods of determining whether or not your skin care product is worth the price, the effort, or the packaging it comes in. There are, of course, more scientific factors such as ingredient comparison and testing through home monitoring but most of us actually pick up our skin care products because of packaging and promises. Whether we continue to purchase the same product is often about the long term results that are visible to ourselves and other people.
