Obviously, the more years the surgeon has been practicing, the more experience he or she should have. That being said, if the surgeon is past the age where he or she should be retired, then perhaps you should see a younger surgeon.
Another thing that the ideal surgeon for your cosmetic surgery should have is a significant amount of testimonials from pleased clients. These client testimonials should be verifiable, and the surgeon should also willingly show different examples from his or her portfolio.
Something that greatly affects a prospective patient's decision is price. This really should not be a major factor, because no matter what the price, it will run into several thousands of dollars. A surgeon might have very good rates, but the results might be horrible. You want a surgeon who offers competitive rates to back up excellent testimonials.
Once the surgeon has been found, an appointment for a consultation must be made. During the consultation, the surgeon should be affable, and willing to answer all of the questions that a patient might have. A surgeon who appears rushed during the consultation is not a good sign, because that indicates that the procedure might be just as rushed.
