To put the sunshine into perspective, Costa del Sol enjoys more than 300 days of sun all year round. The city has everything, being a global destination so if you forget your sunscreen then don't panic. The beaches are absolutely breathtaking and so are the beautiful people that frequent the sandy shores. You will find restaurants, bars and shops scattered along the boulevards surrounding the beaches so you can make a full day of it without having to go off to find refreshments.
If you are staying in a hotel then you should find one as close to the beaches as possible. Some hotels have their own private beaches. As great as this is for privacy, you should also get down to the public beaches so that you get as much out of the local culture as possible.
For the more active tourists, Costa del Sol is a virtual Mecca for water sports. The city has almost 200km of coastline and blue waters. Even if you have never even thought about getting your feet wet, it is never too late to learn something new. You can have scuba diving or snorkel lessons in Costa del Sol and buy or rent all the equipment there. If you have an underwater camera then you should bring it along. You will be able to take some amazing photos and this is something you do not want to miss out on.
Even if you are not mad about water, Costa del Sol is there to be used as an outdoor venue. The city is surrounded by an amazing mountainous region which makes horse riding an absolute pleasure. The views are incredible to say the least and this is a great way to see the outlying areas of Costa del Sol. You can take a guide with you so you can explore the further-out paths. If you do not want to stay in the hub of the city then you can stay in one of the beautiful hotels in the countryside. These hotels will allow you to relax completely away from the main buzz of the city. However, you have the option of going into town for the day or to experience the nightlife.
Costa del Sol has a buzzing night culture complete with great restaurants and very happening clubs. It seems as though the city never sleeps and just when you think that things may be calming down, the city gets a second wind and the vibe picks up another level.
The sooner you book the more time you will have to plan your holiday. Costa del Sol is not the cheapest destination you will find, so bring enough spending money.
