Why Some Relationships Last And Others Do Not

We, as parents, try to give our children and young adults everything and try to help them see that they will not take anything for granted. We try to buy them the best clothes, the toys they always want, and put them in the best schools and colleges.
But here is the biggest problem they will have to face. It is called young love. Sometimes it can and often does hit your daughter like she's been set on fire. Now, when some girls are in love they think about nothing but him and say that they can't think straight. I'm not saying this doesn't happen with boys. Girls are just more of an easy target. But, make no mistake, this can happen to boys.
Young people in love just don't think about what could and does happen to them in the future. They just react to what they feel now. Usually, boys are out for only one thing and we all know what that is: sex. Girls, on the other hand, are out looking for love.
Sometimes, young boys are referred to as fire and smoke. For one thing, they will promise this young girl the moon. They will keep after this girl until she says yes to a date, sweet talk her, and then most times they will try to talk her into having sex. If this young girl really thinks she loves this boy or he makes her think that he really loves her, then they will most of the time end up in bed.
What usually happens after this situation is the boy will just stop seeing or calling her. Now, this type of boy would be referred to as smoke. They are like an unlit fire, and poof - they are gone. Some are like a smoke that will stay at least for a while until things start to get rough, which will cause them to leave. But in these cases, the damage has already been done. Your young daughter can, and in most cases, will have a baby of her own. She will be on her own without any way out or without anyone to help her. Sometimes this will happen before they marry or even after.
There is one more kind of young boy that can be referred to as both fire and smoke. Like they say, where there is smoke there is fire. These boys are usually the ones that will stay for the long haul. In a young marriage, there are two main things that will help keep this marriage afloat. One, of course, is love. The other is trust, both being equally as important. |
