Nothing can quite compare to the fury of Mother Nature when it comes to destruction. All through out time natural destruction has taken place either in the form of earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and fires. The best we can do when Mother Nature rears her ugly side is to do the best we can to stay out of her way and be prepared. Of course there are times when no amount of preparation will be of any help.
In recent years the numbers of natural disasters of one kind or another has either increased significantly or we are just more aware of them because of the extreme amount of news coverage that we have available to us because of technology. Sometimes we are warned in advance that disasters could be coming like when a hurricane is approaching or when a torrential rainfall event could produce flooding, but in other events such as earthquakes or wild fires we usually get no warning at all.
When homes are flooded, it could be that they can be salvaged depending on the amount of damage that they sustain. Flooding caused by natural disasters might very well be anticipated, but when it actually happens, it could happen slowly or suddenly. Sometimes rivers and streams rise at a slower pace and sometimes they simply rage from water upstream. Homes can be slowly filled with several feet of water or they can be completely swept away by rapidly flowing flood water.
Wild fires have become very common also in recent years especially in the Western United States. Sometimes they can be sparked by accident, with intent, or from extreme hot, dry weather. Any homes that are caught in their path have little chance of survival. Fire crews will always do what they can, but sometimes there is simply nothing that can be done. These wildfires can last for days and days before they can be brought under control and residents in their path are made to evacuate. It can be nerve wracking for home owners to have to watch at a distance while their homes are slowly but surely overtaken by the flames.
Insurance that covers all of these types of disasters have become a necessary staple for homeowners everywhere. It would seem that there are no places left that are completely safe from the wrath of Mother Nature and your home is just as likely to be in some sort of danger from her as that of anyone else. Having adequate home insurance coverage is one precaution that you can always have in place.
