If you are looking for one of the slimmest phones on the market, only 15mm, which is packed to the brim with features, then take a look at the Samsung G600. Despite its small size it really does pack a punch with its 5 megapixel camera and a glorious bright colour screen that makes taking and viewing photos a dream.
This being a slide phone Samsung has cleverly used the slide function to hide the camera lens. The good side to this is that the lens does not get scratched; the downside is that to use the camera you have to open the slide of the phone. However if you can live with this then the camera is outstanding in daylight in comparison to similar priced 5 megapixel models.
The camera has its own dedicated button and when pressed around half way down gently, but not fully, this activates the auto focus function built in to give you a crystal clear photo. However one fault with the autofocus is that it is very sensitive to the touch and those who are a little heavy handed can find themselves depressing the button fully resulting in taking a picture without autofocus. There does not seem to be any way to alter the sensitivity which is a shame, but there are plenty of user options when it comes to altering such as picture size and setting the flash mode. The flash however is also a bit of a let down and spoils what is otherwise a great camera; it is only LED as opposed to Xeon.
Those looking for a combined MP3 player will not be disappointed as the included music player on the Samsung G600 is fairly comprehensive. It supports a wide range of music formats including of course MP3, there are many options when it comes to storing and arranging your tracks and playing them back such as shuffle and rating your favourite tracks for easy playback. You can expand the phones memory by way of a microSD memory card which means you are able to store hundreds of tracks. If you do manage to get bored of your own music then you can quickly switch to the FM radio.
There are noticeable absences of a HSDPA connection, Wi-Fi and built in GPS, which all go against the Samsung G600. This is a real shame as Samsung have focused on web browsing and have included a Google search bar which you can use without having to open up the web browser. However surfing can cost a small fortune unless you have a data plan and it can be slow without the fast 3G connection.
Of course call features should not be forgotten, after all this is a phone. The actual call quality of the phone is excellent, voices can be heard loud and clear although the speakerphone could have been a little on the louder side.
In conclusion if you are after a super slim mobile that fits easily into the pocket or handbag, then this could be the model for you. The Samsung G600 also feels sturdy when held in the hand and the slide mechanism is very smooth. If the lack of 3G connection does not worry you and you are taking the majority of your photos in daylight, then it does have an excellent music player and FM radio which could make up for some of the features that are missing.
