There are really many short hair styles today that can fit a variety of facial structures and features. Short hair styles are really great because they will usually work with just about any texture of hair. If you have thick hair, thin hair, curly hair or straight hair, there is usually a short hair style that will suit your needs.
As an added bonus, short hair styles usually take far less work to style than long hair styles do. Plus, with short hair styles, you can have an edgier look and play with your hair more to give you many different looks out of the same cut. However, if you do not have a good hair stylist, it is easy for your short hair style to go fairly wrong fairly fast. For example, nobody really wants to have a grandmotherly short hair style, where it is too short on the sides (and usually curly on top, kind of like the look Estelle Getty has rocked since the 1980s).
Fortunately, short hair styles are really in right now. Katie Holmes recently got her hair cut into a shorter style, and lots of other Hollywood startlets have followed suit. Some of the others who have gone from longer locks to a shorter hairdo include Eva Longoria, Hayden Panittiere and Victoria Beckham (formerly of the Spice Girls, now famous for being a fashion designer and icon, as well as being married to soccer star David Beckham).
If you would really like a short hair style similar to the ones that the Hollywood stars mentioned above have, you need to know the right lingo. If you were to go to your stylist and ask for a short hair style, you could end up with just about anything that is above the shoulders. However, if you were to go and request an inverted bob, your stylist would have a much better idea of what it is that you are looking for.
In order to really nail the short hair style look that you are after, it really helps to bring in a magazine picture of a famous person who also has that style. The inverted bob short hair style that Katie Holmes has is almost as popular as the layered short hair style that Jennifer Aniston had back in the 1990s that everyone went crazy for, so most stylists really know how to cut them. |
