Most fashion forward people want to have their stylist give them the latest hair style, but sometimes that is easier said than done. Famous people in Hollywood who influence the latest hair styles have the best stylists in the industry at their fingertips. Their stylists are the best in the country (and probably even in the world). So when they give a Hollywood movie star the latest hair style, they use all of the knowledge that they have to create the complete look.
Because of this, hair stylists in middle America working at local beauty parlors often times have a hard time recreating the latest hair style that their clients may want. Sure, they can usually get pretty close to what their clients want, but it will never be the exact same. There is an art to cutting hair, with each of the latest hair styles being a masterpiece on par with the Mona Lisa or the Statue of David.
So, when you go into your local salon (that is, assuming your local salon is not on Melrose Avenue and your local stylist is not Ken Paves), make sure you adjust your expectations a bit when you ask for the latest hair style. As great as your stylist may be, he or she is probably not as skilled as the people who work on the hair of movie stars (obviously, otherwise he or she would probably be out in Hollywood cutting hair!).
However, there are some things that you can do to help your stylist to give you the latest hair style that you crave. First and foremost, always bring in photographs of the latest hair styles that you want. If you like Katie Holmes hairdo, bring in a picture from a magazine that clearly shows as much of her hair as possible. This way, your stylist will have a better idea of what the whole cut looks like, so he or she can have an idea of how to begin cutting it.
Second, you should ask your stylist if he or she is up to date on the latest hair styles. Like many other jobs, hair stylists should constantly be getting new training, so they know how to recreate the latest hair styles that use cutting edge techniques. If your stylist has not been to a hair convention in years, you might want to consider getting a new one. |
