Are Phone Cards Really Worth It?

There are a lot of phone services that are now offering reduced rates for calls to international phone numbers, but how do these compare to maybe getting a reduced rate from you service provider.
You can pop into any shop and buy a £5 or £10 voucher to make calls abroad but are these really saving you money. I have come across some places where the shop seller has given me an international card which I have then gone home and tried to use with no luck what so ever saying that the entered pin is invalid. I then go back to the shop asking for a new card or my money back and they just tell me that I have used all of the credit.
If signing up with your service provider you know what you are going to get and you know that it is going to work. There are some providers that now offer international calls from as low as 2p per minute giving you the peace of mind and the conversations that you have always wanted.
